Patience

Gal. 4:4a, "But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son....."

The minister Phillip Brooks, was pacing rapidly back and forth one day. Finally one of his friends asked him what in the world was wrong. Phillip's reply was, "I'm in a hurry, and God is not!" I can really relate to that, can't you?

Another minister named Ron Dunn used to say, "God is never late, but He surely does miss a lot of good opportunities to be early!"

Gal. 4:4a in the King James tells us that Jesus came to earth "in the fullness of time." This is how God always acts--at just the right time, at the optimum moment. I so want Him to adhere to my timetable all too often, but He expects me to adhere to His and to do it with faith, with patience, and with peace in my heart. I really struggle with trying to be patient. I'm afraid I want what I want when I want it. But then I remember that God is too good to do evil, too wise to make a mistake, and too powerful to lose control. He loves you and me and desires the very best for our lives. So over and over I surrender and follow His lead and rest in His righteousness, His wisdom, His sovereignty and His love.

Father, thank You that You always know what is best and desire what is best for each one of us. May we follow your lead and be willing to rest in Your perfect timing. Amen.
