Lest We Forget

Hebrews 13:16, "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

Do not forget. Remember. It will take much more than days--it will take weeks and months--to recover from the devastation left behind from the tornadoes. We find a two-fold challenge before us.

Recovery and rebuilding will take courage, tenacity, perseverance, and determination on the part of those who have lost their homes or their businesses. It will be even harder for those who have lost family members and friends to carry on with their lives.

Those of us who have only been inconvenienced by the loss of power and lack of access to groceries, gasoline, and restaurants need to continually thank God for so many blessings which we have often taken for granted. But we should also remember in the weeks and months ahead that those who have sustained great losses will continue to need assistance, comfort, and encouragement. Now that many of us are able to get back to "business as usual," may we not forget those who are still struggling and grieving.

Father, thank You for blessing us so greatly. May we be very appreciative of all You have done for us and given us and never take these things for granted. May we be very mindful of the needs and griefs of others and seek to minister wherever we can. Amen.
