Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
I John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Have you ever changed a baby's dirty diaper? One of my granddaughters was changing her son at my house recently. A visitor hastilly left the room before the diaper came off. That baby was a smelly mess, but his mother took off that nasty diaper and cleaned him with wipes until he was spotless. Then she put a fresh, clean diaper on him, and he was good to go.
In a way this depicts what God does for us. Babies are completely helpless. There is no way that a baby could change his own dirty diaper and clean himself up. We are born with a sin nature. Before we come to Christ, we are sinful creatures, and we are helpless to save ourselves from this situation. But, just as a baby can cry out to its mother for help, we can cry out to our Heavenly Father for help, and He will hear and answer. He takes people who are sinful and needy and cleans them up. There is no sin that is too great for God to forgive. Remember Paul When God cleanses us, we are spotless, squeaky clean. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We are good to go.
When we sin again--and unfortunately we do--if we confess, God cleanses us again, and again, and again, as often as we confess and repent. I read that a lady once asked a minister, "Preacher, 'bout these sins--does we 'fess 'em as we does 'em or does we bunch 'em?" If we have unconfessed sin in our lives, our fellowship with God is disrupted. If we keep short accounts with God, confessing our sins as soon as we commit them, we will walk clean and in sweet fellowship with our Heavenly Father. We will stay good to go.
Father, thank You for Your forgiveness and cleansing. May we keep short accounts with You so we will walk clean and in fellowship with You and always ready to serve You. Amen.
